The Church has prepared a Christmas initiative for 2016 to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Last weekend, the Church sent information to ward and stake leaders that may be used in planning Christmas gatherings and activities. This information may also be useful for families.
This year’s initiative is entitled #LIGHTtheWORLD. It focuses on celebrating and sharing the Light of Jesus Christ with others. The initiative begins Friday, November 25, 2016 and runs through Christmas Day.
Invite your friends to visit Mormon.org/christmas, which will be available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
“Light the World” Video. The video will be available on mormon.org and in the Gospel Library app beginning November 25 for viewing and downloading. The video will be available in the following 29 languages: Albanian, Armenian, Cebuano, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Thai, and Ukrainian.
Advent Activity Calendar. Each day in December, the calendar focuses on a different Christlike behavior and provides suggestions for ways we can emulate His example. You may find it useful in generating ideas for ward Christmas dinners and gatherings. Youth groups and ward councils could consider activities to involve their neighbors in service to the community. I invite you to use these resources with you family and friends to plan Christmas activities.
