Son of God Movie

The movie, Son of God, is a 2014 American Christian film produced and directed by Christopher Spencer about the life of Jesus. It was based on History Channel’s 2013 mini-series, The Bible, which presents a dramatization of the Bible, as well as on devotional books such as Jesus Calling.

For more than 2 decades, Hollywood has had a difficult time identifying the difficulties in portraying Jesus on screen. Although their portrayals of Jesus have been popular and profitable at times, such as The Passion of the Christ (2004), Son of God was not able to get an Oscar nomination for best picture.

Son of God is at its heart a good movie. In spite of its weaknesses, it does a good job of telling the story of Jesus. It is true that it has little action, but then again this isn’t an adventure story. The film presents many important events in Jesus’ life including his baptism by John, his temptation in the desert, his teachings about God and love and service, his healing miracles, and of course his crucifixion.

I went to see this movie with my family and we all enjoyed it greatly. It was great to see the life of Christ on screen and it gave me a better understanding of what his teachings were and how he died for my sins.

For those who enjoy Christian films, this is an excellent choice! I would recommend Son of God to any fan interested in seeing a good portrayal of Jesus on the big screen.

For those who are not Christian, I would recommend you go see this film with an open mind. Jesus is more than a prophet, he was the Son of God and came to earth to die for us out of love.
