We are gathering feedback from some of the youth of the Church about what kind of web site we could  build that would bring them closer to the Savior and help them feel more connected to the Gospel and to the Church.

If you have Facebook, you can join this Facebook site and enter the discussion. We’d love your feedback!

We also have a web site where we link to some things we’re thinking about which might never actually come to fruition. It’s called Labs. You can check out some prototypes on Labs.  Use the ID “youthtester” and the password “helaman2000.”

We are accepting a limited number of people to have a more personalized experience on Labs. To apply, sign up for an LDS Account. You’ll need your member number, which you can get from the ward clerk, and your birth date. Then send your LDS Account name to labs@ldschurch.org. We’ll accept as many as we can until the servers get overloaded.

Once you send the email and we get back to you, you’ll be able to log into Labs with your own LDS Account and you’ll be able to view your own ward directory online and record your thoughts and feelings about General Conference and recall them later.

In addition, you’ll be able to use your LDS Acccount for other web sites the Church is currently working on that will come out this year.

Did you catch the article “Just a Game?” from this month’s issue of the Ensign? It explains why online games (especially role-playing, quest-oriented games) can become addictive, leading to lost spirituality, lost opportunities, and lost relationships. The article explains the problems that can occur and gives guidance for those affected and their loved ones.

It’s definitely worth a read for everyone, regardless of your level of familiarity on the subject.

The article mentions a talk from Elder David A. Bednar at the May CES fireside, which is also available online.

Online social networks like Facebook are a great place to do missionary work. With that in mind, Mormons Made Simple created the Facebook Missionary Challenge to help you spark casual conversations about the Church with your non-member friends.

Here’s how it works:

1. You provide your name and e-mail address.

2. Each week, they send you a MormonsMadeSimple video to post on your Facebook wall. Included in the e-mail are helpful tips and suggestions that will help you answer any questions that may come up.

3. You post the video to your page on Facebook and then watch as missionary opportunities open up.

You can also join the Facebook Missionary Challenge group so you can share your experiences and get real-time tips and advice from others.
