BYU Education Week Talks About Church Resources

by Larry Richman on August 27, 2013

byu-education-week-camiloLast week, Fernando Camilo presented two series of classes at BYU’s Education Week.

The first was called The Digital Church–Tools, Treasures, What’s New and You and was presented in four separate classes. In this series, Fernando discussed many of the resources available to members of the Church on LDS.org, including calendar, maps, and the music website. Fernando also showed several new resources that were made available in 2013, including the new youth curriculum Come, Follow Me and the 2013 edition of the Scriptures.

The second series, The Church’s Social and Mobile Presence–Tweeting, Pinning and Blogging the Gospel, was presented in three classes. This series focused on the Church’s social media and mobile efforts. Fernando showed features from the Church’s 9 official mobile applications and also many of the Church’s approved Facebook and Twitter pages.

The presentations used during those classes are now available through SlideShare, a website that lets you share PowerPoint presentations. You can view and download the slides here. They also appear below.

You are welcome to use these slides as a basis for your presentation in your ward or classroom. Much of Fernando’s presentation consisted of app and website walk-throughs, which are not available in the slides.

Do you know if other talks from Ed week will be available anywhere?

Sally, I don’t see any reference on the BYU Education Week site (http://ce.byu.edu/edweek/about.php) that they make the presentations available. Fernando has made his presentations available and shared them here.

Too bad there isn’t a way to download them without signing up for the Slideshare website. That’s a big drawback.

Matt,

You can download them without creating a Slideshare account.
1. Go to the presentation on Slideshare (by clicking the word Slideshare in the bottom left of the presentation below.
2. Click the word Save at the top of the presentation window.
3. Log in with either your LinkedIn account or Facebook account.

Slideshare doesn’t get your credentials, and you didn’t have to create an account.
