Andersen: Using Technology to Share the Gospel

by Larry Richman on April 17, 2013

missionariesIn the April 2013 LDS General Conference, Elder Neil L. Andersen talked about miracles in preaching the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth.

He recounted how our day is “a remarkable time of miracles.” Although we have a growing number of missionaries (see graphic to the left), we as members must take more seriously the Savior’s mandate to share the gospel and to invite others to “come and see” and feel the Spirit.

“If you’re not a full-time missionary with a missionary badge pinned on your coat, now is the time to paint one on your heart—painted, as Paul said, “not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God (2 Corinthians 3:3)”

“The Lord needs you now more than ever to be an instrument in His hands. All of us have a contribution to make to this miracle.”

“For those using the Internet and mobile phones, there are new ways to invite others to “come and see.” Let’s make sharing our faith online more a part of our daily life. LDS.org, Mormon.org, Facebook, Twitter—all provide opportunities.

“To share the gospel, young members in Boston started several blogs. (See, for example, youngandmormon.com.) Those who joined the Church began their learning online, followed by discussions with the missionaries. This experience also helped the youth have greater faith in talking about the gospel in person. One of them said, ‘This isn’t missionary work. This is missionary fun.'”

“…in your own way, in your own culture, you can share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.”
