Revelations in Context: Stories Behind the Doctrine and Covenants

by Larry Richman on February 24, 2013

revelations-in-contextThe new Church website Revelations in Context teaches about the stories behind the sections of the Doctrine and Covenants, including new insights from the Joseph Smith Papers.

This new website can be an aid to your study of the Doctrine and Covenants in Sunday School Gospel Doctrine classes this year. Since the sections in the Doctrine and Covenants stem from historical events, it is helpful to understand the history behind how each section came to be.

The website Revelations in Context can be found by going to history.lds.org, where a rotating banner includes a link to it. Links to relevant articles on the new site also appear in a sidebar next to the corresponding lessons in the online Gospel Doctrine Teacher’s Manual on LDS.org.

The section index is too buried in the older articles portion of this website. Add sections as part of columns and make it the default sort view.

After reading about the site in the church news, I was excited to use it but found it difficult to use and get information.
