Newsletter Tool on LDS.org

by Larry Richman on March 7, 2012

Newsletter is a new tool coming to LDS.org that provides a blog-like site that wards and stakes can use to provide local news to members. This tool will replace the “News and Information” feature that existed on the classic local unit website and will provide a digital alternative to the paper newsletters that organizations typically create.

The tool is available for people to begin testing.

To learn more about what the Newsletter tool will do, or to sign up to beta test the tool, see the article “Newsletter, a New LDS.org Tool To Be Released into Beta Mid-February.”

This tool is nice, but if you really want to fix communications in my ward there would be some sort of email list tool.

Most of my ward just copies and pastes a long list of addresses into the ‘To’ field of the email. We’ve had so many problems with email: problems with confidential emails going to the wrong groups of people, getting emails multiple times, people using ward emails for personal use, people replying to all with personal info, emails getting forwarded inappropriately, etc.

We are currently evaluating many possible solutions to fix the communication issue within wards and stakes, one of which is providing email capabilities. Watch the ldstech forums for future announcements about this topic.
