I am listening to Mormon Identity with two professors talking about men and women in the church and the issue of status of priesthood over womanhood.

My view is even more reinforced now - Priesthood is a power that can flow THROUGH a man who is worthy and is authorised to be that conduit. I do not like the idea of priesthood being something that you hold or that is something that is essentially masculine.

So priesthool flows through men to serve mankind and children flow through women to bless mankind.

Yesterday I listened to the Mormon Channel all day to try and get a feel for its programming. I thought the talks were excellent, but the overall feel is too "fluffy" for me. Some of it felt like I was being spoken to in Primary along with a room full of younger children. It may be that a more sophisticated approach will be less generally appealing, but I found it a bit annoying.

Online focus groups outside of Utah are a definite possibility in the future. Thanks for the feedback.

Although Salt Lake City is a convenient place to find members of the Church, I think the majority of Mormon Channel users will probably come from areas outside Utah. In Utah, there are more media options (including BYU radio and TV services) which provide similar types of content. Outside Utah, where there are very few LDS-focused media outlets, online access to the Mormon Channel is likely to be some members' first and most convenient choice for this type of programming.

I would encourage the Mormon Channel team to consider holding online focus groups for members outside Utah. Their views may be more beneficial in shaping the station for audiences who will use it as their exclusive source for this type of content.
