I have always wondered why, if it was so important, Joseph Smith seems to have &quot;petered out&quot; on its completion. More puzzling, no prophet since has continued the project to realistic completion. I have heard the arguments of some apologists, none of which represented an official opinion of the church, if any, and found them both evasive and unsatisfying</description>
