92% of US consumers aged 12-24 have used the Internet. But more than half of those aged 65-69 have gone online as well, and the 70+ crowd has nearly doubled in the last 3 years.
The chart below shows people who had ever been online. For example, 93% of teens (12-17) had used the Internet at least once in 2008.

The following chart shows that same teen group (12-17), but includes only those who went online at least once a month: nearly 79% in 2008 and expected to grow to nearly 89% in the next 4 years.

It’s surprising to me that there are so many people who didn’t even use the internet once in the entire year of 2008. I use the internet every day, and it’s hard to imagine not using it: especially among teenagers and college students. If internet use is encouraged nowhere else, it seems that most schools have research papers, etc. wherein internet resources play a vital part.
Of course, a relatively short number of years ago the internet didn’t exist as we know it. Still, today it has become so mainstream that it is hard to imagine that so many people don’t even use it once, in a year…
