MormonMagz reminds us that there is a new Mormonad video from the New Era. It is based on the Mormonad titled “Wish You Were Here.” It has to do with respect and courtesy, specifically text-messaging courtesy.
You can watch all the Mormonad videos on the New Era Web site or on the New Era YouTube channel. These videos are a great addition to the offerings from the Church magazines online and are hopefully a harbinger of things to come.

Some quick feedback on the New Era ads and their promotion:
1. The ads are pretty good for a v1, so kudos to whoever put them together
2. The best one is clearly the text message one “Wish you were here”, which you feature here. Much more compelling than the one’s involving balloons.
3. Fantastic that the videos are posted on YouTube. Good job leveraging the social power of that medium. That said, you only have 4,500 plays per video so promotion needs to be significantly improved.
4. The videos have 10-16 seconds of what I call “lard” at the end. Long builds and fades to logos and URLs. You only get credit for a play on YouTube if the video finishes. most people will close the window or click on the next video before your ad finishes. You want your counter to be as high as possible so you can show up on charts.
5. You should add easy Facebook sharing to the new Era Page (or if you don’t want to seem like you’re endorsing Facebook, have a dropdown with 8 options); but let’s face it, all the kids are on Facebook. And their parents too.
6. This is more of a meta problem that I’m sure you’re dealing with but this has to be the most obtuse URL ever created

Keep up the good work!
Just a note about the comment above regarding #4.
Actually, Youtube counts a view when a video is opened (even if only 1 second is watched), not if an entire video is watched.
Regarding #3, I think the primary reason that these videos don’t show up in the charts is the titles have “Mormonad” in them, and not “Mormon Ad” or something similar. Having it combined as one word will not result in very good search rankings.
Good feedback! I’m excited to see more of these official channels from the Church.
