I live in a remote area, and know many single mothers and working mothers in my stake... They often feel disconnected from the ward and do struggle with support for teaching their kids the gospel. But, they almost all have facebook pages (or the like), blogs, etc. Is there an LDS-sponsored facebook-like site? A one-stop shop not just for information but for collaboration. As you can see, that's what women are looking on the net for.

I can see that this would seem risky for the Church, as it removes the ability to monitor content. So I don't know if it's feasible...

The Internet has replaced the encyclopedia of my youth.

Since I live away from my family, e-mail helps me keep in touch.

It also helps me keep in touch in a Relief Society Presidency where the president works full-time.

It is great for family history work!

I could do without my TV, but not without my computer.

I am the weekly church bulletin editor of our ward and I use the online church magazines every week for quotes, pictures, and appropriate games. I appreciate that we have the latest magazines (since 2001) in pdf format so that we can view them just as they appear in the actual, printed format. I wish that the church would also release the magzines prior to 2001 in pdf format.

To your thought provoking first question, I applaud the Church for their recent efforts to provide more resources for parents to help their children learn and live the gospel on their own.

After coming across the enhanced Friend.lds.org web site yesterday and talked to my oldest daughter last night about is as i tucked her in and she was excited to try it out herself. I see signs of Church doing just that what I think they could do more of/better, namely providing inspiring media for children to learn on their own and thirst for the learning by making it engaging and fun.
