July Ensign

by David Frischknecht on June 16, 2008

Ensign Cover July 2008

Ensign readers will find the cover of the July issue unique, even unusual. It draws attention to Elder M. Russell Ballard’s article “Sharing the Gospel Using the Internet” (p. 58), which is adapted from his talk at BYU-Hawaii in December 2007. Many Church members have read this talk on the Internet. Printing it in the Ensign gives non-Internet readers access to Elder Ballard’s instructions on using new technologies to share the gospel. In addition to the unique cover, readers will find something novel about the sidebar, “Helps for Home Evening” (p.61). It invites families to view Elder Ballard’s video clip at www.youtube.com/LDSPublicAffairs and discuss ways they can share their testimony of the gospel using the Internet.

Thanks for the update – I’ll watch out for it!

Thanks for letting us know. The talk does deserve more attention.

Now THAT is exciting. Many of the new blogs by members have been called “Ballard blogs,” but its not just LDS blogging that has taken off recently. The church and member-generated videos being uploaded lately are doing a world of good. I have seen my Google searches on the church change for the better just in the last six months since Elder Ballard asked us to become more involved. I can’t wait to see how many more people respond after the July Ensign comes out. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! This is so exciting! I can’t wait to get my copy. Thanks for the preview.

Very exciting! Something was driving many Latter-day Saints to build their sites long before Elder Ballard’s “call to blog” address, myself included. However, his ground breaking talk gave each of us the validation we needed to continue – and the power and courage to expand our horizons. The Young Women motto of the church states that “we will stand as witnesses of God at all times, and in all things and in all places”. I feel that one of the very most important “places” today is the World Wide Web! Raise your techno-testimony high! :)

David, I can’t find a page with your email address to contact you privately. Any chance you could whip up a “Contact Us” page?

Here’s an easy way to start doing what Elder Ballard said, “Testimony Tag” (see http://testimonytag.googlepages.com/). The idea is that if all of us when blogging will start to make a few posts here and there and get our friends to do the same, then lots of people will hear about the gospel and search engines will accurate, fair websites higher. Please consider participating and tagging your friends/family to participate!

I loved knowing about this in advanced. I’ve been telling all my friends about this for weeks and they think I’m something special for knowing about the ensign before it has arrived.

We got our copy yesterday. It’s great! I read it last night. The internet is a wonderful tool to share the Gospel.

Most of my life was spent in one chursch or another, joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age 66, turned out to be the biggest and most corect step I have ever taken. Did I know everything about the church? No, but the truths of the church have come softly, one at a time. When a truth comes in this manner, it is more real than if it had been shouted at you. Blessings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are without number.
