Technology Defines Internet Generation

Check out the article in this week’s Church News about young adult use of technology. It talks about their heavy use of cell phones, texting, and social networks.

In their survey of 80 young single adults, “some reported sending more than 2,000 text messages a month.” They didn’t survey my 18-year-old. She sent 7,300 last month!

I have a friend in my singles ward who does 10,000 to 12,000 in a month. Even at 7,300 a month, thats an average of one text every 6 minutes, all day long.

And how many of those 7,000 text messages were of any substantive value? I’m guessing at that level of volume there’s a lot of noise and time wasting going on.
