So those of us who don’t hold the priesthood aren’t allowed to listen to those talks? In fact, we are often assigned to teach from some of those priesthood talks for a fourth-Sunday RS lesson, and it would be nice to listen in preparation or even play a snippet to the class.

I don’t understand how it is such a big difference whether it is in written in text (which is available on the web) versus the audio. I feel the audio is more accurate because it has inflections and non-verbal cues from the individuals themselves. It is the fairest representation of what was actually said.

Does this policy also suggest that the women of the church have no interest in the Perpetual Education Fund or the building of small temples, which were announced in General Priesthood?

Why is priesthood meeting closed, but Relief Society General Meeting “open”? We’re supposed to be “members” of an organization, so shouldn’t that also be “members only”?

I totally respect the meeting itself being priesthood only, but afterward, why cannot we hear the talks that present doctrine from which we will be judged and which affects our lives?

A few months ago, I was at a stake youth fireside where the speaker asked the young men about a talk from General Priesthood. When none of the young men raised their hands, a young woman provided the answer, and the speaker was able to make his point, which applied to youth of both genders, or he would not have been discussing it in such a venue. But you’re saying she should not have read that talk?

I’m not a feminist, but this feels like a major Slap In The Face to me. Very ugly.

Since the priesthood session is a closed meeting, the Church does not provide the audio and video of the meeting to the general public on LDS.org. We hope that within a year, when LDS.org users will have the ability to log in, we will be able to provide audio and video of the priesthood session to authenticated priesthood holders.

As a Gospel Doctrine teacher, I often bring in my ipod with snippets of GC talks to illustrate the lesson.

When we were talking about race in Jacob, I wanted to play part of Pres. Hinckley’s excellent talk about race. But it was not available, even though it is quite recent, because it was at Priesthood.

What is the reasoning behind that?

I find great value in letting students hear the original speaker.

I just wish the MP4 videos were of a bit higher quality to view on a TV/projector, but I understand the tradeoff in file size may make that less desirable for many people.
