Booklets that explained how to use a particular program were called "Users Manuals". People who used computers were called "users". I think the people who want to eliminate the term have a just cause, and I wish them well in their efforts. However, I don't think the term will be removed from our vocabulary very soon. I don't think I use the term very often. I refer to people who access my web sites as "visitors".
