RSS Feeds on Church Web Sites

by Larry Richman on June 27, 2007

Many of you are aware that the RSS feeds on Newsroom and the home page of LDS.org have not been working well (or at all) since June 8. Last night, the feeds were fixed and are working well.

Has the church always been using feedburner for RSS Feeds, or is that new?

So I’m looking at LDS.org today, and I sent to click on the RSS icon in the address bar, and it doesn’t work. Of course, that icon is caused by this tag in the :

Which points to http://www.feeds.lds.org which doesn’t exist. If you were to take out the www. of the url, then I’m pretty sure it would work.

(I apologize if posting this doesn’t work with some of the characters, but you can email me if you can’t understand what I’m talking about)

Yup, it took out my tag examples in my previous comment. Let me try it like this: In the header, you find this tag which has the wrong href:

<link rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss xml” title=”Home” href=”http://www.feeds.lds.org/ldsHomeFeatures”/gt;

And if that doesn’t work, just search your source for “www.feeds.lds.org”

Max, we’ve been using feedburner for quite a while.

Jacob, the problems have been fixed. Let us know if you see other problems.

The RSS feed seems to be fixed. Thanks a lot. Maybe you could also fix the link to the Alma 10 MP3 file on http://lds.org/mp3/display/0,18692,5297-41,00.html . It seems to be downloading a file with zero bytes and it isn’t working for me (but the other audio files do).
