Regarding the question above "will the Church’s own news releases/articles that are already posted to LDS.org regularly be made searchable?"

The answer is yes. Many of them are in the search index at http://beta.lds.org, and they will all be included in the release in October.

Yes, the new site will have MUCH better searching--not just of Gospel Library (manuals, talks, scriptures, etc.), but also the Web page content itself. http://beta.lds.org already has the new search engine to search Web page content, but it will be much improved with the new release in October.

Future plans call for more audio and video of open house sessions and other talks.

I've often wished for better searching and I'm hoping the new site will provide that functionality. Specifically, I appreciate the ability to search by scriptures, gospel library, and talks, but I've wondered why we can't just search the website itself instead of using the site map. For example, I searched "class presidency video" trying to find the video located http://www.lds.org/pa/display/0,17884,6620-1,00.html and had no link to this location. Maybe this is something that will improve in the future version of LDS.org?

My other thought is it would be really great if we could somehow get podcasts of the General YW/RS/Primary/YM Open House sessions because there is a difference between attending or hearing the session in person and just reading the material. I can't attend this year's YW Open House and feel like I'm really going to miss out even though I know the transcripts will be available for download.

Thanks for providing this forum! I really appreciate your insight.

I did know about the Deseret News 'Church News' publication being separate and not on LDS.org due to it being a publication of that newspaper, but maybe the question really had more to do with may have been "will the Church's own news releases/articles that are already posted to LDS.org regularly be made searchable?"
