Church Web site for the Country of Ukraine

by Larry Richman on August 29, 2006

We are pleased to announce that the Ukraine country Web site for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church) is now live. The Church now has 61 country Web sites.

In addition to the Web sites managed from Church headquarters in Salt Lake City, each country is authorized to create a country Web site under the direction of Area Presidencies. These are hosted in country and provide:

  • Positive Church presence in the language of the country.
  • Local history, events, and other information.
  • Links to other translated materials on official Church sites.

Country sites are popular, and receive just under a million page views each month.

Very impressive. Gives a whole new meaning to Christ’s injunction:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and apreach the gospel to every ccreature.

Does the U.S. have only the website managed from Church headquarters in SLC?

The website traffic you mention is hugh–is that page views per site or collectively?

Thanks for this update!

The U.S. does not have a country Web site. LDS.org handles the needs of the U.S., including a calendar of events (http://lds.org/calendar).

The half a million page views each month is the total of all 61 sites.
