The switch to FeedBurner is mostly for statistics. In addition to all the hits on a feed that Awstats shows, some RSS aggregators only read a feed once even though they have many readers. These aggregators pass a statistic of how many readers are subscribed to you and FeedBurner can read this, so FeedBurner gives more accurate results than simple log analysis.

It is also nice that FeedBurner takes the hits off your server, and they have some other nice features, but stats are the main draw.

It looks like you have already changed it, but you may want to consider Steve Smith’s Wordpress Feedburner plugin. It is quick to set up and provides all of the advantages of a feedburner feed, but people still subscribe to your url, i.e. ldswebguy.com/feed
That way, if you ever decide to move away from Feedburner, you can do so without losing all of your subscribers-

What is the advantage of switching feed sources? Is it an interest in bandwidth, statistic gathering, formats and features, or publicity? Just curious to see if you have any special insights about publishing feeds.
